It's all about the load.

1. What measures of security should be undertaken for protection of baggage?

Passengers shall follow several simple rules: - Each bag/luggage shall be labeled with a tag, on which your data and the point of destination are indicated. Such a tag should also be placed into the baggage - The baggage should be closed tightly. It may additionally be wrapped by a stretch film - Money and valuables should be placed into the carry-on baggage and should be taken to the cabin.

2. When passenger loses baggage: What to do?

- A passenger who lost his/her baggage should apply to the LOST & FOUND Office operating at the hall of disembarkation of any airport. Here, you are offered to fill out an appropriate (PIR) Property Irregularity Report. Applying to the office and informing of (loss, damage, shortage in weight) should be at the same day. If you apply next day following the flight, you may be rejected. - The airline company shall engage in searching the baggage. If the search does not give any result upon expiry of a three-week period, you will be paid compensation. - If the baggage is found, but its contents are not full, you should indicate it in a deed. Then, you will be paid partial compensation, whose amount will depend on the difference in the weight of the baggage before and after finding it. According to Warsaw Convention, the compensation is calculated as 20 $ per kilogram of the shortage in weight. - You should know that the airline company does not bear liability for money and valuable lost together with the baggage.

3. What are the rules of transportation of baggage?

- Each airline company has its rules and limits for the weight, dimensions and other characteristics of any transported baggage. These norms are determined by taking into account the terms of tariffs and trips. - The standard weight of carry-on luggage, which a passenger may take into the aircraft, shall not exceed 5 kg, while the baggage shall not exceed 20 kg. If your baggage exceeds the permitted norms, then, you shall directly contact the airline company beforehand.

4. Do I need to get my baggage if I fly by a switched line?

In this case, you have two options: - If the airline company provides the relevant service of ‘registration of baggage up to the point of destination’, you can use it and the baggage will be delivered to the final point. - If this service is not available, then the passenger should take care of his/her baggage personally: take it and register it for the next trip.
